Ultranationalist Youth Attack Peace Activists With Chairs In Jerusalem Christian Quarter Clash

Jerusalem, Israel – A violent clash broke out in a narrow alley of Jerusalem’s Christian Quarter on May 14, 2026, shortly before the annual Jerusalem Day flag march.

The footage shows peace activists wearing bright purple vests who were suddenly attacked by several young Israeli ultranationalists.

The assailants grabbed white plastic chairs from nearby shops and cafés and threw them at the activists while also pushing and shouting in the confined streets filled with market stalls.

The purple-vested volunteers raised their hands in defense and tried to move back as the situation quickly escalated in the crowded alley.

The activists were volunteers from the Jewish-Arab organization Standing Together, which had deployed hundreds of people that day to help protect Palestinian shopkeepers in the Old City from expected violence linked to the march.

The confrontation took place amid recurring tensions that emerge each year during Jerusalem Day, when far-right marchers move through the Old City and clashes often occur involving local Palestinian residents and counter-protesters.

The incident is described as part of wider scuffles involving ultranationalist youth, Palestinian residents, and peace activists working to reduce escalation in the area.
