Silver Bell, New Mexico – Authorities are warning residents to secure food sources after a bear was recorded helping itself to bird seed left on a residential porch.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 13, when a resident on Silver Bell filmed an early-morning bear feeding from a bowl of bird seed outside their home.

Officials described the scene as the animal treating the setup like an “all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet,” as it consumed the food left on the porch.

A statement from the Red River Marshal’s Office said, “Looks like someone found the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on Silver Bell this morning.”

The office also joked that the bear left a “5-star review” of the home, quoting it as: “Great service. Zero effort required. Will absolutely be back.”

Authorities used the incident to remind residents to secure food sources, warning them to “shut down the porch buffets before we end up fully booked with unwanted guests.”
