Laredo, United States – A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a human smuggling attempt during a high-speed pursuit in Laredo on April 30, 2026, as part of Operation Lone Star.

Authorities report the driver refused to stop, triggering a chase that continued until the trooper carried out a PIT maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end.

After the vehicle was stopped, the driver got out and attempted to flee on foot. The suspect climbed a fence while trying to escape before being tased and taken into custody by the trooper.

The driver, identified as Samuel Infante of Laredo, was arrested and charged with six counts of smuggling of persons.

Six individuals described as illegal immigrants were transferred to the United States Border Patrol following the incident.

Operation Lone Star continues its efforts to target human smuggling through coordinated enforcement operations.
