Chioggia (VE) – A minivan overturned in a canal in the Ca Lino area during a tragic incident at dawn on May 9, 2026, resulting in multiple casualties and a large-scale emergency response.

Nine people were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident. Six of them were rescued by emergency teams, while three people died as a result of the crash.

Firefighters responded with two teams to the scene. A specialist diving unit was deployed to assist with recovery efforts in the water, along with a crane used to retrieve the overturned vehicle from the canal.

The operation continued through the morning and was completed in the late hours of the morning after all rescue and recovery procedures were carried out.
