Hawaii, United States – A video recorded on May 5, 2026, shows lava fountaining activity at the summit of Kīlauea along with tephra fallout and moving lava flows during an eruptive episode.
The footage was captured by the KWcam, located on the northwest rim of Halemaʻumaʻu crater, while the event was unfolding.
The eruption began at 8:17 a.m. By shortly after 10 a.m., tephra was falling in the area around the camera’s location.
At the same time, several lava flows were seen moving across the floor of the crater beneath the ongoing volcanic activity.
