Vall d’Airoto, Spain – A shaky handheld video filmed by X user FANS DE NEU captures a powerful wet snow avalanche rushing down a steep gully in the Vall d’Airoto area above Alós d’Isil in the Catalan Pyrenees on April 30, 2026.
The footage shows a fast-moving flow of wet, muddy snow mixed with rocks, debris, and spray descending rapidly from the upper slope. The mass crashes through trees and bushes before spreading across the lower rocky terrain in a chaotic cloud of slush and dust.
The camera moves unsteadily as it follows the avalanche, which gains force and speed while filling the frame under an overcast sky.
The clip was shared with a warning describing a wet snow avalanche in Vall d’Airoto above Alós d’Isil. It was noted that the group had been close to being caught by the slide just minutes earlier while positioned below its path.
The footage was recorded during heavy rain conditions on unstable, water-saturated snow.
A safety message accompanied the video, warning about mountain danger and stressing caution in unstable conditions, noting that while people must respect the mountain, it does not respond in return.
