Port St. Lucie, Florida – A 15-year-old girl, identified as Amy Chance, has been charged with a felony after striking the hood of a Port St. Lucie Police Department patrol car with a shovel.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Bartell Avenue after reports of a disturbance inside a home caused by Chance.
When police arrived, she was standing in the middle of the roadway holding the shovel. As the patrol car approached, she moved toward it and hit the hood with the tool.
The impact caused more than $1,200 in damage. Officers, frustrated by the deliberate act, arrested Chance at the scene. She now faces a felony charge of criminal mischief.
Police emphasized that intentional destruction of property will lead to arrest, regardless of age. Thanks to their training, officers took Chance into custody without incident.
