Town of Wayne, Wisconsin – Sheriff’s deputies launched an unusual early morning mission Saturday after a pig escaped from a local farm and caused a stir in a quiet subdivision.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the call came in at 7:32 a.m. reporting an animal on the loose.
Deputies arrived to find a pig running freely and a farmer struggling to corral it.
After a short “hoof pursuit,” one deputy managed to lasso the pig “like a county fair champion.”
The pig briefly escaped again, diving into a ditch for a cool break.
With the help of a construction vehicle equipped with a large shovel, deputies and the farmer reeled the pig out of the ditch.
The animal was returned home and placed in a more secure pen after what authorities described as “strategic negotiations.”
The sheriff’s office closed its report with a playful nod to online commenters, stating: “Yes, we’ve heard all the jokes.”
