Vatican City – On May 8th, X user Fr. Tomasz Podlewski shared a striking video showing white smoke rising over the Sistine Chapel, signaling the election of a new Pope.
“I was at St. Peter’s Square,” Fr. Podlewski stated. “My office is just 300 meters away, so as soon as the white smoke appeared over the Sistine Chapel, I ran outside.”
The square and surrounding streets filled instantly as news of the momentous event spread.
“I thought—I have to capture this extraordinary evening as a keepsake,” he said.
Fr. Podlewski recorded over two hours of footage and condensed it into a four-minute film.
“No music, no captions, no effects—just a memory,” he explained.
He concluded his post with a prayer: “May Blessed Virgin Mary support Leo XIV, the Vicar of Her Son on Earth.”
