Vegetation Fire Rages South of Piru Threatening Power Lines

Piru, California – A vegetation fire is burning in steep terrain south of the community of Piru and the Santa Clara River. The blaze is estimated at approximately 40 acres.

A second alarm has been requested to combat the fire. Authorities have called for air tankers and additional helicopters to assist in the effort.

High-tension power lines are located in the area, raising concerns about potential disruptions. A total of 140 firefighters are either on scene or en route to battle the flames.

Sensory aircraft mapping indicates the fire spans 38.31 acres. Ground and air resources are making steady progress toward containment.

Firefighters, both on the ground and in the air, continue to make good progress. An image shows the current fire perimeter and conditions.
