US And Tunisian Forces Purify Water During African Lion 2025 Exercise

Gabes, Tunisia – U.S. and Tunisian Armed Forces conducted water purification operations during exercise African Lion 2025 at the Port of Gabes on April 25, 2025.

U.S. Soldiers from the 240th Combat Sustainment Company, 95th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, based in Baumholder, Germany, extracted Mediterranean Sea water and purified it into potable water.

The purified water supported units participating in the exercise.

African Lion 2025 is set to be the largest annual military exercise in Africa, involving over 40 nations, including seven NATO allies and 10,000 troops.

The exercise focuses on realistic, dynamic, and collaborative training in an austere environment, covering multiple geographic and functional combatant commands.

Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa on behalf of the U.S. Africa Command, African Lion 2025 runs from April 14 to May 23, 2025.

Training takes place across Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia.

The exercise aims to enhance the ability of forces to work together in complex, multi-domain operations, preparing them to deploy, fight, and win.
