U.S. Marines Launch Amphibious Assault Drills Off Puerto Rico

Caribbean Sea – September 5, 2025 – U.S. Marines and Sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) carried out amphibious operations in southern Puerto Rico while deployed aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7).

The exercises took place as the vessel sailed in the Caribbean Sea, demonstrating the readiness and capability of U.S. forces in the region.

These operations are part of a broader deployment supporting the U.S. Southern Command mission, Department of War-directed operations, and priorities set by the president.
