Madrid, Spain – Two hikers on a trail in Peñalara were caught off guard by a fierce blizzard. On Saturday night, mountain specialists from the Guardia Civil carried out their rescue.

The Guardia Civil reported that two residents of Alcalá de Henares became disoriented and lost around 8 p.m. Poor visibility from the blizzard made it hard for them to find their way.

They were rescued after sharing their location via mobile phone. This helped authorities find them by 9 p.m. The rescue operation included personnel from the Madrid Community Firefighters.
