Chillicothe, Ohio – A dramatic animal rescue unfolded last week along U.S. 23 near Chillicothe.

Trooper Haley Shreck of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a fawn lying on the roadside.

After contacting the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, she safely moved the young deer.

The fawn was placed in a nearby safe area where its mother could find it.

This rescue is a reminder that no day is ever typical for Ohio state troopers.
