Tornado Tears Through Kentwood Leaving Homes Damaged But Spirits Strong

Kentwood, Louisiana – Chaos erupted in Tangipahoa Parish as a suspected tornado ripped through the north end, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) deputies raced to the scene after reports flooded in of structural damage in the Hwy 1055-1054 area. Video and images from Sheriff Sticker, who was on the ground in the East Fork community, captured the terrifying aftermath of this wild weather event.

By 1:30pm, the Kentwood Fire Department had cleared several battered homes, pulling off a heroic rescue with no injuries reported so far. But the storm left its mark—Highway 1055/1054 was completely blocked, and power lines lay tangled and lifeless across Taylor Creek Rd and Elk River Rd. Earlier updates confirmed the carnage, with TPSO warning locals of the unfolding crisis.

Fast forward to 2pm, and the sheriff’s team was still hard at work. Tonight, they’re standing guard in East Fork, patrolling to fend off looters while sawing through fallen trees, clearing roads, patching up wrecked homes, and helping families find hot meals and a place to sleep. They’re not alone—partner agencies have joined the fight, and the TPSO couldn’t be more thankful.

It’s been a brutal day, no doubt, but the sheriff’s office reckons Tangipahoa Parish is built from sterner stuff. “Tough day, tough people,” they said. The community dodged a bullet with no injuries, but their thoughts are with nearby Tylertown, where luck ran dry. Recovery rolls on, and Kentwood’s grit shines through.
