Tiny Heroes In Costumes Melt Hearts At Cleveland Clinic Childrens

Cleveland, Ohio – The smallest patients in the neonatal intensive care unit celebrated Halloween in heartwarming style as parents and caregivers dressed the babies in cheerful costumes, including a ladybug, boxer, cheerleader, and soccer player.

Many of the costumes were donated, with some lovingly crocheted by NICU caregivers, while others were brought in by proud parents eager to join the festive moment.

The annual tradition of dressing up NICU babies for Halloween has been part of Cleveland Clinic Children’s for several years, bringing comfort and smiles to families during challenging times.

“Dressing our babies in costumes brings moments of connection to families during what can be an uncertain time. It’s a small gesture that helps families celebrate milestones and create special memories, even in the hospital setting,” said NICU nurse manager Julie Gamary.

Staff members said the goal is to bring a sense of joy and normalcy to parents during emotional hospital stays. For many, this sweet celebration makes Halloween feel truly special.
