Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, Hawaiʻi — A timelapse video released on April 20, 2025, captures intermittent eruptive activity at the south vent of Kīlauea.
The footage compresses about one hour of volcanic behavior into a 38-second video.
The video shows a lava column rising and falling inside the conduit throughout the morning.
When visible, a low dome fountain, approximately 5 meters high, can be seen feeding lava into a narrow channel exiting the cone.
The activity highlights the continuing volcanic behavior at Kīlauea’s summit.
