Val Verde County, Texas – On May 18, 2025, a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper stopped a vehicle and made a shocking discovery. Inside the trunk, two illegal immigrants were trapped without ventilation, struggling in the intense heat exceeding 100 degrees.

The driver, Kevin Ramirez from Dallas, was immediately arrested for smuggling of persons.

Thanks to the quick and sharp action of the trooper, what could have become a tragic situation was prevented. Both individuals were safely handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

Smugglers continue to use dangerous and inhumane tactics despite a significant drop in illegal border crossings. Texas DPS troopers remain vigilant, making arrests and protecting lives every day.
