Terrifying Pyroclastic Flow Caught On Camera By Scientists Monitoring Mount Etna

Catania, Italy – A dramatic video captured by an interdisciplinary research team shows a powerful pyroclastic flow roaring down the slopes of Mount Etna.

The footage was sent by members of the PRIN-Volando project, including staff from INGV, Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

According to the latest INGV-OE report, the event occurred at 11:33 a.m. and was part of ongoing volcanic activity recently observed at Etna.

The video, now shared publicly, highlights the immense force and speed of the flow, which consists of hot gas, ash, and volcanic rock.

This rare footage supports ongoing volcanic surveillance and scientific research efforts.
