Tanker Airdrop Deployed as Salt Flat Fire Burns 150 Acres Near Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi, Texas – A brush fire broke out just north of Corpus Christi on Wednesday afternoon. Named The Salt Flats Fire, it has already scorched an estimated 150 acres.

The fire is currently 50% contained, according to officials. Efforts to control the blaze intensified with a tanker airdrop, captured on video at the scene.

Fire weather remains a concern this week. Strong winds and low dew points are expected across the Front Range, High Plains, and Central Florida.

The Salt Flats Fire started with an initial estimate of 100 acres and 0% containment. It has since grown, challenging firefighting crews in the region.
