Successful Bomb Disposal Operation Concludes in Southern France

Frontignan, France – Authorities completed a bomb disposal operation on Sunday, March 23, after an American Air Force bomb was found at the site of a former refinery in VilleFrontignan.

The bomb was disarmed and destroyed at 11:11 a.m. under eight meters of earth. The controlled explosion took place at the Lafarge quarry in Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone.

Hérault Prefecture officials praised the effort. “I renew my thanks to all the law enforcement, emergency services, and agents involved in this operation,” the Prefect stated.

The operation unfolded successfully, eliminating any risk to the public. Authorities have lifted the security measures in place.

The Prefect expressed gratitude to the mobilized teams, especially the SecCivileFrance demining unit. Additional thanks went to VilleFrontignan services, PoliceNat34, PompiersHerault, prefecture staff, and Exxon-Mobil.
