Statue Of Liberty Replica Collapses Under Violent Storm Winds

Guaiba, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil – A video shared on December 15, 2025 by X user Bigode de Borracha shows the dramatic collapse of a large Statue of Liberty replica located outside a Havan department store.

The footage captures powerful wind gusts bending the structure until it gives way and falls forward from its base. As it collapses, the upper section, including the head, crown, and torch arm, breaks apart and crashes into the parking lot.

Parked vehicles are narrowly missed, and a white pickup truck passes by just moments before the debris hits the ground. The remaining robe section is seen draped over the pedestal and spread across the pavement.

No people or vehicles appear to be struck. The recording was made from across the street during rainy conditions.

The collapse was caused by a severe storm that struck the region on December 15, 2025, bringing wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h. Authorities confirmed the incident was not the result of any vehicle impact.

The replica was installed in 2020 when the store opened. It stood 24 meters tall, or 35 meters including the pedestal, and was completely destroyed. No injuries were reported, and there was no significant damage beyond the statue itself.

Officials isolated the area, and cranes were used to remove the remains. Havan stated the structure had the required permits, and an investigation into the structural failure is underway.

The incident quickly spread across social media, with multiple video angles shared and widespread coverage across Latin America and Spain.
