New York City, New York – On May 27, thick smoke engulfed the streets near West 54th Street and 6th Avenue, as a fire broke out in the basement of the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
A video posted by X user “spicy potato soft taco stan account” showed heavy smoke and firefighters responding at the scene. The caption read: “Fire on W 54th and 8th Ave in NYC.”
The fire started in a mechanical room in the hotel’s basement at 1326 6th Avenue. The FDNY received the emergency call at 4:51 p.m. and arrived quickly.
Street photos showed smoke pouring across intersections, forcing people to flee nearby buildings.
Firefighters brought the situation under control by 6:08 p.m. No injuries were reported.
