Sinking Boat Rescue In Tampa Bay Brings Quick Response

Tampa, Florida – On April 5, 2025, the HCSO 911 Center received a call about an overturned vessel near Spoil Island in Tampa Bay.

A 911 dispatcher quickly contacted the Marine Section, who located the sinking vessel. A deputy used a throw rope to pull a man from the boat.

The other four passengers had already been helped onto other boats by people who stopped to assist.

All occupants were taken to the Williams Park boat ramp for evaluation. Everyone was reported to be okay.

“This rescue is a reminder of the life-saving role our 911 dispatchers play every day,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Their fast thinking and coordination with our Marine Section ensured a quick response that helped bring everyone to safety.”
