Rimini, Italy – On Sunday, August 24, 2025, heavy rain and strong winds battered the Riviera Romagnola, prompting dozens of interventions by firefighters across Rimini, Ravenna, and Forlì-Cesena.
Since 3 a.m., fire crews have responded to emergencies including rescuing people trapped in flooded underpasses, removing fallen trees and billboards, and pumping out water from affected areas.
In Rimini, reinforcements from Forlì assisted local teams in evacuating 23 passengers from a train stopped on the Rimini-Ravenna line after a tree fell on the tracks near Bellaria-Igea Marina.
The most severe damage in Ravenna occurred in Cervia and Milano Marittima, where strong winds toppled numerous trees onto cars and streets. Local teams and reinforcements from Ravenna coordinated the response.
Firefighters were also active in coastal towns including Cesenatico, Gatteo, and San Mauro Pascoli, addressing fallen trees on roads and power lines, as well as flooded underpasses and underground garages.
