Severe Dust Storm Strikes Burning Man Festival On First Day

Black Rock Desert, Nevada – A video recorded by X user Simba Khela captures a violent dust storm hitting Burning Man 2025 on its opening day.

Winds reaching 45 mph caused tents to collapse and sent debris flying across the festival grounds. Attendees struggled to secure their camps as visibility dropped dramatically.

This storm follows a pattern of extreme weather at Burning Man, with similar events recorded in 2016 and 2024.

Despite the destruction, the community plans to rebuild, demonstrating the resilience for which the festival is known.

Simba Khela described the scene, saying: “Burning Man. Day 0. Worst Storm in history. Let’s fucking go!”
