Sakurajima Eruption Sends Plume 2500 Meters Into Sky In 58th Blast Of The Year

Sakurajima, Japan – On May 15, Sakurajima volcano released another explosive eruption, sending a plume of ash 2,500 meters above its crater.

This marked the 58th explosive eruption of the year for the active volcano.

The powerful blast sent ash high into the sky, continuing Sakurajima’s streak of volcanic activity in 2025.
