Kagoshima, Japan – A powerful eruption struck Sakurajima volcano on May 30 at 8:58 p.m. local time.
The explosion sent a massive plume of ash soaring 3000 meters above the crater.
This marks the 136th explosive eruption from Sakurajima in 2025.
Authorities continue to monitor the volcano’s activity as the frequency of eruptions increases.
