Kagoshima, Japan – On May 22, 2025, at 08:54 local time, Sakurajima volcano erupted violently once again.

The explosive eruption sent a plume of ash soaring 2000 meters above the crater.

This marked the 128th explosive eruption from Sakurajima this year alone.

The volcano, one of Japan’s most active, continues to show intense and frequent activity.
