Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) aviation continues its efforts to combat wildfires in the Transbaikal region.

Two Il-76 aircraft are fighting fires near the village of Ukurik. Over the course of two days, the aviation has taken to the skies 10 times and dropped 420 tons of water.

The region is currently battling more than 314,300 hectares of land engulfed in flames. Of the 29 fires, 12 have been localized, covering 236,700 hectares. The situation is under the control of MChS Russia.
