Russian and Chinese Rescuers Save Woman Trapped Under Rubble for Over Two Days After Earthquake

Mandalay, Myanmar – A woman was rescued from under piles of concrete after being trapped for more than two days. Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) worked with Chinese colleagues to free her after an earthquake caused buildings to collapse.

The victim was found under debris by search dogs from the ministry’s canine unit. The rescue operation took 8 hours, conducted in darkness and with significant risk to the rescuers’ lives.

Search efforts are ongoing in tough conditions. There are large amounts of rubble from collapsed buildings, unstable structures, and continuing aftershocks.

Russian rescuers have pledged to work around the clock to help those still trapped.
