Rescued Dog Wants To Drive Police Car After Jumping Into Driver Seat On Busy Ohio Highway

Canton, Ohio – A dog wandering on Interstate 77 had a lucky escape last week thanks to Sgt. Brett Claxon of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The sergeant, stationed at the Canton post, acted quickly to rescue the animal from the dangerous roadway.

Video footage shared by the patrol shows Claxon coaxing the dog off the interstate.

Once safely away from traffic, the dog surprised everyone by jumping straight into the driver’s seat of the police cruiser.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol posted the clip on Facebook on May 14, calling it “A PAW-sitively adorable rescue.”

“Maybe he’s ready to JoinOSHP!” the post read.

The video drew more than 3,000 reactions, with viewers praising the sergeant’s actions.

“Way to go, OSHP! Saving life’s and rescuing the lost and wandering!” one comment said.

Another viewer wrote, “Sgt Brett Claxon, you are a life saver. I absolutely loved seeing this video.”

Claxon could not be reached for comment.

The patrol later confirmed that the dog’s owner was found.

“We’re happy to report that our furry friend was safely returned to its owner,” the post said.
