Rescued Deer Pulled from Water Channel in Ruidera Lagoons Natural Park

Ciudad Real, Spain – The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Ciudad Real Civil Guard rescued a deer that had fallen into a water supply channel in the Ruidera Lagoons Natural Park.

In late March, a Seprona patrol was alerted by several people walking near the Tomilla lagoon, part of the Ruidera Lagoons Natural Park, about an animal trapped in a drainage channel, unable to escape.

The agents arrived at the scene and confirmed it was a live male roe deer that had accidentally fallen into the Tomilla lagoon channel. The deer couldn’t climb out on its own due to the channel’s high walls, according to a Civil Guard press release.

Using a ladder provided by a local resident, the agents descended into the channel, retrieved the animal, and released it onto solid ground. The deer fled the area, showing no signs of external injuries or wounds.
