Red Arrows Make History With First Sustainable Fuel Flypast Over London For Kings Birthday

London, England – On June 14, the Red Arrows performed a historic flypast over London for His Majesty The King’s birthday.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team used a high-ratio blend of sustainable aviation fuel for the first time in a public event.

This world-first flypast combined sustainable aviation fuel and renewable biofuel known as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil to power jets and create the team’s signature vapour trails.

The move marks a major step in reducing the RAF’s carbon footprint and demonstrates their commitment to cutting-edge technology and energy security.

Pilots with experience flying Tornado, Typhoon, and Harrier jets led the display from their base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.

The event highlighted the RAF’s role in protecting the nation year-round while embracing a greener future.
