Kanawha County, West Virginia – West Virginia authorities released a shocking video of a driver illegally speeding past a school bus, nearly hitting a student.
The incident involved a Lincoln sedan crossing a double yellow line to pass the stopped school bus, which had its stop signs extended. The student was getting off the bus and crossing the street at the time.
Video surveillance showed the driver pulling into a 7-Eleven just moments before the incident. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that the driver was later located and arrested.
The driver faces multiple charges, including DUI, reckless driving, overtaking and passing a school bus, and driving on a revoked license. An interview at the Western Regional Jail revealed evidence of the driver being a habitual drug user, leading to an additional DUI charge.
