Atamanovka, Zabaykalsky Krai – A massive wildfire continues to burn near the settlement of Atamanovka, spreading across 2,500 hectares of forest.
More than 300 personnel are battling the flames, which have been intensified by extreme heat and wind gusts reaching 20 meters per second.
The fire jumped to abandoned structures in the “Lokomotiv” summer community. No residents were present in the affected buildings.
Emergency crews successfully protected a gas station, a roadside repair company, a zoo nursery, and nearby summer homes.
Despite these efforts, the threat to Atamanovka remains severe.
The settlement is being shielded by ground teams from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Avialesookhrana, Zabaykalleshoz, and local volunteers.
Heavy machinery is being used to cut mineral firebreaks around the blaze.
As a precaution, all children have been evacuated from the “Zhemchuzhina” sports camp.
Aerial firefighting assets from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have been deployed.
Be-200 and Il-76 aircraft, along with a Mi-8 helicopter equipped with a water bucket, have dropped more than 300 tons of water on the fire.
In total, over 300 personnel and 70 units of equipment are engaged in the operation.
