Jefferson County, Colorado – On May 19, JCSO Animal Control officers answered an unusual and adorable call near 14th Street and Nile Street.
A homeowner discovered that their wood-burning stove had become a surprise home for a raccoon family—four wiggly babies and their mother.
As the stove door was opened, the mother raccoon bolted up the chimney and onto the roof in a dramatic escape.
Meanwhile, officers carefully collected the tiny, fussy babies and placed them safely in a nearby bush, giving them a quiet place to wait for their mother’s return.
The baby raccoons were healthy and unharmed.
It was just another day for the JCSO Animal Control team.
