Surabaya, Indonesia – On March 24, X user Julian Nainggolan published a video of protests in Indonesia.
The video showed chaotic scenes in Surabaya, where demonstrators opposed revisions to the Army (TNI) Law. Julian Nainggolan commented in Indonesian, describing the events.
They said: “Kurang ajar klen. Aksi demonstrasi tolak UU TNI diwarnai penculikan massa aksi di Gedung Negara Grahadi Surabaya.” This translates to outrage over the protest being marred by abductions near the Grahadi State Building.
The post detailed how the crowd was moved from Jalan Pemuda toward Gedung Negara Grahadi. Security forces were heavily involved, managing the protesters.
Nainggolan added: “Pengamanan sesi selanjutnya, massa yang digiring dari Jalan Pemuda menuju Gedung Grahadi.” This means the next security session involved guiding the crowd to the building.
The protests turned tense near Gedung Negara Grahadi. The X user noted: “Aksi demonstrasi tolak UU TNI diwarnai pengamanan massa aksi di dekat Gedung Grahadi.” Security clashed with the demonstrators there.
They concluded: “Ini massa yang ditangkap dan datang dari Jalan Pemuda bersama aparat.” This suggests arrests were made as the crowd arrived with security personnel.
The incident unfolded at 17:25 WIB (GMT +7) in Gedung Negara Grahadi, Surabaya, East Java. It stemmed from civil rejection of the Army Law revision.
