ARDMORE, Ala. – Recently obtained body cam footage shows the tense moments as first responders work to save a 2-year-old who nearly drowned in late February. The family quickly jumped into action after noticing him in the water.

A 2-year-old boy was rescued after falling into a pond on Friday afternoon in Ardmore, officials say. According to the Ardmore Police Chief Jereme Robison, the child was playing in a yard near where his father and another family member were working outside on 6th Street. Robison said the father and the other family member reportedly turned their heads for a split second and the boy ended up in the pond. Robison said the boy ended up in the pond after seeing a ball in the water.

The other family member saw the child in the pond and jumped in and once pulled from the water, did CPR immediately. He said he believes the quick efforts of the family member made the difference and they believe the boy will be O.K. “More than likely, his actions are going to be the gamechanger in this,” Robison said. “And we think the little boy is going to be O.K.”
