Madrid, Spain – Authorities in Madrid have confiscated 9,830 candies and other food items from a store in the Usera district ahead of Halloween, after discovering that many violated health regulations.
The inspection, carried out on October 28, 2025, was part of a special campaign by the Policía Municipal de Madrid to ensure food safety during the Halloween period.
Officials reported that some of the confiscated products had been expired for over a year, posing serious risks to consumers.
The operation underscores the city’s efforts to prevent the sale of unsafe sweets and protect residents, especially children, during one of the busiest candy seasons.
Authorities confirmed that all non-compliant items were immediately removed from the store, which now faces further administrative actions for breaching food safety rules.
