Nairobi, Kenya – Tension erupted on June 25 as Gen Z protesters brought Thika Road to a standstill in a dramatic citywide march.
A video recorded by X user @franso_m captured soldiers in military trucks and gunfire on the street.
The protest began in Thika Town and surged toward Nairobi.
It was held in memory of those killed during last year’s anti–Finance Bill demonstrations.
Hundreds blocked both directions of the Thika Superhighway, halting traffic for hours.
Police responded with a heavy deployment as clashes escalated.
The road was paralysed as running battles between protesters and officers unfolded across the highway.
