Miami-Dade, Florida – During the Columbus Day holiday weekend, the Marine Patrol Unit of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a good Samaritan about a sea turtle in distress.

Deputies boarded the vessel and found a loggerhead turtle entangled in a crab trap line. Thanks to the swift actions of both the good Samaritan and the Marine Patrol deputies, the turtle was safely freed and swam away on its own.

The rescue highlights the commitment of Miami-Dade law enforcement to protect all who call the area home, both on land and at sea.
