Requeixo, Chandrexa de Queixa, Ourense, Spain – A fierce forest fire has erupted in the mountainous area of Requeixo, Chandrexa de Queixa, sending towering flames and dense smoke into the sky.

The blaze began on August 9, 2025, and has already consumed more than 300 hectares of land.

Extreme conditions are hampering efforts to contain the fire, with temperatures potentially exceeding 40°C and the rugged terrain making access difficult.

The BRIF team from Tineo is battling the flames using counter-fire techniques to secure the perimeter along control lines.

Galicia, where this disaster is unfolding, is Spain’s most affected region for forest fires, with a long and severe history of such incidents.
