San Luis Obispo County, USA – The Madre Fire has expanded rapidly, with long-range spotting and uphill runs intensifying its spread.

A large number of resources are actively working to suppress the fire where conditions allow. Hand crews, aircraft, dozers, and water tenders are all involved in the operation.

Additional support has been requested to assist the Los Padres National Forest, Bureau of Land Management Fire, and CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo Unit in managing the massive blaze.

Earlier this evening, the fire was mapped at 9,800 acres.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are working alongside fire crews and partner agencies to carry out evacuations and protect public safety.
