Perth, Australia – On May 9th, Perth Zoo published a video of their male koala, Laurie, showing off his vocal skills during mating season.

In the clip, Laurie can be heard bellowing in an attempt to attract female koalas. The zoo encouraged viewers to turn the sound on to hear the unique call.

Male koalas use these deep, resonant vocalisations to signal their presence and strength during breeding season. Laurie is clearly putting in the effort to charm a potential mate.

The zoo described the moment as “our gorgeous male koala Laurie doing his best bellowing.”
