Ice Breakup Frees Flooded Areas in Chelyabinsk Region

Chelyabinsk Region, Russia – Ice has passed through a flood-prone section of the Sim River in the Chelyabinsk Region. The water has receded, freeing the remaining 12 garden houses and 13 residential plots in the town of Asha. No residential homes, garden houses, or plots remain flooded.

From March 19 to 21, explosives experts carried out 11 ice blasts on the Sim River. The blasting operations are now complete. Emergency Situations Ministry (MCHS) staff continue to provide necessary assistance to residents and monitor the situation.
