Rome, Italy – A 27-second video recorded by X user Linda Whittaker Colorado USA on November 3, 2025, shows the upper section of the 13th-century Torre dei Conti crumbling from a nearby street viewpoint.
The clip frames a crowd of onlookers — tourists, journalists and locals in casual clothing — gathered behind bushes and safety barriers, many lifting phones to record beneath a clear blue sky.
The tower’s weathered brickwork breaks away at the top, sending a massive plume of orange-brown dust into the air. Yellow construction netting and barriers ring the tower’s base as a yellow excavator arm or crane appears amid the rubble.
Nearby modern buildings are visible, including a beige apartment block and a red sign reading “Ristorante Cinese” on Via Cavour. A vintage street lamp and parked vehicles occupy the foreground.
In the hazy distance the Colosseum can be faintly seen beyond the dust and debris.
