Mesetas, Meta – After a sudden rise in the river Güejar, two women faced life-threatening danger when their rafting boats were swept away by the strong current.
The helicopter ‘Ángel,’ a UH-60 Black Hawk from the Comando Aéreo de Combate No. 2 of the Colombian Aerospace Force, carried out a daring rescue mission.
Coordinated by the Unidad Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos y Desastres and the Centro Nacional de Recuperación de Personal, the skilled crew of pilots, flight technicians, and rescuers acted swiftly to save the women.
The rescue was challenging due to the narrow canyon and fast-flowing waters. Precision was crucial as the victims were in a hard-to-reach spot. Using a rescue crane, the women were safely lifted to a soccer field in Mesetas.
The courage and skill of the Colombian Aerospace Force personnel were key to bringing hope and safety in this emergency.
