San Bernardino Verbano, Italy – Three German hikers were rescued this afternoon after getting into serious difficulty during an excursion in Val Grande.
The incident occurred in the area of the Val Grande National Park, located within the territory of San Bernardino Verbano.
Vigili del Fuoco teams were dispatched to the scene to assist the hikers.
A helicopter crew from the Malpensa flight unit, carrying divers on board, safely recovered two women from the remote terrain.
The third hiker, a man, had suffered leg injuries.
He was airlifted to the hospital by a medical service helicopter.
