Shishaldin Volcano, Alaska – A video filmed from a helicopter circling above the peak shows the volcano’s striking features and ongoing activity.
The footage reveals steep, symmetrical slopes largely free of snow, colored in shades from brown to dark red. Inside a notch near the summit, brighter layers of rock are visible.
From a point close to the center of the notch, a large white plume of steam and gas rises into the air.
The recording contains only the sound of the helicopter as it orbits the volcano.
